2024 ASCAP Christian Music Awards

ASCAP celebrated the writers and publishers of the most-performed Christian songs of 2023 at an exclusive celebration held September 29 in Nashville.

2023 ASCAP Golden Note winner Matthew West was named ASCAP Christian Songwriter of the Year for the sixth time for his six winning songs including hits like "Never," "Anymore" and "Don't Stop Praying." Brandon Lake is ASCAP Christian Songwriter/Artist of the Year with four of the most performed songs including “Fear Is Not My Future,” “Praise,” “Praise You Anywhere,” and “Trust in God.” Nate Ruess, Bearvon Music and Warner Chappell Music won Song of the Year for “Thank God I Do,” and The ASCAP Christian Music Publisher of the Year Award was given to Essential Music Publishing for their 12 top songs.

SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR: Matthew West

Five-time GRAMMY nominated songwriter Matthew West is one of the great contemporary architects of Christian music. ASCAP’s 2023 Golden Note Award recipient, NSAI’s 2022 Songwriter-Artist of the Year, and “one of Christian music’s most prolific singer-songwriters” (Billboard), West has had cuts by numerous artists like Rascal Flatts, Scotty McCreery, Casting Crowns (including back-to-back #1 singles), Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant, among others. He has notched a whopping 34 #1 songs as an artist and/or songwriter, and been named ASCAP Christian Songwriter of the Year an unprecedented SIX times.

SONGWRITER/ARTIST OF THE YEAR: Brandon Lake

Multi-talented singer, songwriter, guitarist and worship pastor Brandon Lake has a lot to celebrate these days. Through releasing his critically acclaimed solo albums and collaborating with artists such as Maverick City Music and Elevation Worship, he has taken home five GRAMMY Awards and been nominated for a total of ten over the course of his professional music career. After winning his first ASCAP Songwriter of the Year in 2023, he now takes Songwriter/Artist of the Year for four huge ASCAP Christian hits:
