The 73rd Annual Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony was held over two nights on September 11 and September 12, 2021. While we can’t watch the show just yet, we now know our big winners!
You did it! Congratulations! Renaissance man, comedian and songwriter Bo Burham won his first ever Emmy awards for his musical pandemic masterpiece Bo Burnham: Inside, picking up the award for Outstanding Music Direction. He was also recognized for Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special, bringing his Emmys total to three statues. Very cool, way to go!
Emerging from the claustrophobia of Inside, what could be more restorative and humbling than the power of nature? Decorated UK composer Steven Price also celebrated his first Emmy award, in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Documentary Series or Special category, for his expansive and emotional score to David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet. Steven's Emmy comes just a few months after his fellow composers named his David Attenborough score the ASCAP Composers' Choice: Documentary Score of the Year.
And we’re not finished yet! Mark your calendars – the combined 73rd Primetime Creative Arts Emmys ceremonies will air on Saturday, September 18, 2021 on FXX, followed by the live Primetime Emmys on September 19 on CBS at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT. Tune in, pop some popcorn and cheer on your faves!
