Beyoncé, Bonnie Raitt & Maverick City Music Lead ASCAP Family's 48 Grammy Wins

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was one for the ages. The evening presented memorable milestones and unforgettable performances, and record-breaking, culture-shaking moments from ASCAP members across the genre spectrum. 

By the end of the night, the ASCAP family of songwriters and composers had won 48 categories. They were led by the indomitable Queen Beyoncé, who not only led the night with four Grammys, but also ascended the throne as the most decorated person in Grammy history, with a jaw-dropping 32 career trophies. GOAT status re-confirmed.

The Maverick City Music collective (featuring ASCAP member Brandon Lake) dominated the gospel and Christian music categories, taking four categories. Blues-rock legend Bonnie Raitt took home three trophies, including Song of the Year for her heart-rending "Just Like That," a year after she earned a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Germaine Franco and Lin-Manuel Miranda, musical masterminds of Encanto, took two trophies apiece, as did heavy metal godfather Ozzy Osbourne, alt-rock darlings Wet Leg and mega-producer The-Dream. Superstar songwriter Amy Allen was honored with an Album of the Year award for her role in writing Harry's House.

ASCAP members were also responsible for a remarkable series of Grammy firsts this year. Kim Petras busted through a glass ceiling as she accepted the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award for Sam Smith collab, "Unholy," becoming the first openly trans songwriter to win a Grammy. Carly Pearce and her collaborator Ashley McBryde are now the only all-woman group to win Best Country Duo/Group Performance. And in its inaugural year on the Grammy docket, the Best Spoken Word Poetry Album category went to J. Ivy, the ASCAP poet and songwriter that led the charge to have spoken word recordings separately recognized by the Recording Academy. 

In addition to the competitive categories, legendary rockers Heart (co-led by ASCAP member Nancy Wilson) earned a Lifetime Achievement Award, and jazz patriarch Ellis Marsalis earned a posthumous Grammy Trustee Award.
