Grateful Dead, Bonnie Raitt, Arturo Sandoval to Earn Kennedy Center Honors

By Sarah Finegold  •  July 23, 2024

The recipients of the 47th Kennedy Center Honors have been announced – and all the musical honorees are members of our ASCAP family!

The Kennedy Center Honors recognizes artists who have made an extraordinary impact on the cultural life of our nation and continue to have an immeasurable influence on new generations.

And these icons are truly treasures of the American musical tradition: among them (deadheads rejoice!), the surviving members of beloved jam-rock band the Grateful Dead (Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Bobby Weir); celebrated blues rock singer-songwriter and guitarist Bonnie Raitt; and cutting edge composer, jazz trumpeter and pianist Arturo Sandoval. The legendary Apollo Theater will also receive a special Honor as an iconic American institution.

The 47th Kennedy Center Honors will be presented at the annual national celebration of the arts in Washington, DC on December 8, 2024. To learn more about the program and the honorees, head to https://www.kennedy-center.org/whats-on/honors/.
